The basicsWhat it is, where it runs, what it costs.
What is Avokindo?
Avokindo helps you discover communities, events, artists and spaces around you; all in one place. You join the communities whose events you want to see, RSVP or get a ticket, and turn up.
Browsing, messaging and holding a ticket are open to anyone with an account. A face scan is asked for when you join or start a community, and a profile photo as well before you post, comment or react.
How is Avokindo different from other apps?
Communities, events, artists and venues live in one app rather than four, and they are wired to each other.
- A community owns its own events, feed, chat and members.
- An artist has a profile that venues and communities can find, and can say what they are open to.
- A venue has a listing that takes booking requests and negotiates them in the open.
- A ticketed event issues passes and scans them at the door, with the guest list live as people arrive.
Is Avokindo free to use?
Yes. Discovering communities, events, artists and venues, joining, RSVP-ing, getting tickets, posting and chatting are all part of the free tier.
A premium subscription raises your active-post limit from 50 to 100 and adds extras such as a Premium badge, read receipts and an ad-free experience. The interest limit is 50 on both tiers — that one is deliberate, not an oversight.
Which platforms is it on, and which languages?
iOS and Android, free from the App Store and Google Play. We are starting in Malaysia and expanding across Southeast Asia.
The app ships in 16 languages, including English, Malay, Chinese in both Simplified and Traditional, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic.
CommunitiesThe home for a set of events and the people at them.
How do I join a community?
Open Discover, open the community you want, and tap Join.
A public community lets you in straight away. A private one shows Request to join instead, and its leaders approve or decline; you can withdraw the request while it waits. Joining asks for the face scan the first time.
What can I create in Avokindo?
The + button offers an Event, a Community, an Artist profile, Claim your venue, and a Memory.
- A community is the home for your events, feed and members.
- An artist profile and a claimed venue listing let the other side of the room find you.
- A venue is claimed rather than created from scratch — you find or add your place in the venue search, then claim it.
- A Memory is photos from an event, and it unlocks after you attend one.
How do I create an event?
Tap +, then Event, and add a title, description, location, date and time, and photos. Events are organised through a community, so if you do not run one yet the app offers to start one first.
Your event publishes immediately. Photos and text are screened automatically, and our moderation team reviews anything reported or flagged — content that breaks our guidelines is removed after publication.
Events & ticketsTwo kinds of event, and they behave differently.
How do I get a ticket to an event?
On a ticketed event, tap Get ticket. The pass lands in My tickets under the Tickets tab and the organiser scans it at the door. If the event is full you can join the waiting list, and you can release your spot if your plans change. Getting a ticket asks for no verification at all.
A community event is different: it takes an RSVP, which is confirmed straight away with no host approval step, and it does ask for the face scan and a profile photo.
Does Avokindo handle payment for tickets?
Yes, when a ticket has a price. A ticketed event is either free or priced, and the event page labels which. A priced ticket is paid through Avokindo on a secure payment page, and the organiser is paid out afterwards. If the organiser cancels, every ticket bought through Avokindo is marked for refund and the organiser pays it back from their Sales screen.
A venue deposit or an artist's fee is different: those are arranged between you and the venue or the act, not through the app.
What happens if an organiser cancels?
Everyone holding a pass is told straight away and no further tickets can be issued. The organiser has to write a message to ticket holders explaining it, which is sent to them and shown on the event page. Every ticket bought through Avokindo is marked for refund and the organiser pays it back from their Sales screen. Anything you arranged with them outside the app stays between the two of you.
What happens after an event?
On a ticketed event, guests who were admitted at the door can leave a rating and a few words once the event has ended, and those build the event's average. You can remove your own review afterwards and leave a new one.
You can also post photos from the event as a Memory, choosing who can react and comment and whether it stays or disappears after 24 hours.
Artists & spacesThe two sides that book each other.
How do artist profiles work?
An artist profile is separate from the personal account that runs it. It carries the act type — solo, duo, group or collective — genres, social and portfolio links, a gallery and upcoming dates.
Anyone can follow an artist without any verification, and followed artists collect in a Followed Artists list. Artists can switch on Open for Collaborations so communities and other artists know they are taking enquiries, and Open for Residency so venues know they want a recurring spot.
An account gets one artist profile. It can sit as a draft until you publish it, and it can be archived — but not deleted.
How does booking a venue work?
A venue is claimed rather than created: anyone can add a place so it can be found, and the owner claims the listing afterwards. A claimed venue that is open for bookings shows a Request a booking button; if it is not taking requests right now, the page says so.
You choose whether you are asking as yourself, as your community or as your artist profile, then send dates and times, an alternative date, expected attendance, equipment, set-up and teardown, catering, accessibility notes and a budget in plain words.
The request then moves through viewed, more info needed, new terms proposed, accepted and confirmed, with the whole negotiation history kept on the booking so neither side has to remember what was agreed.
What is a residency?
A recurring series at a venue rather than a one-off date. A venue that is open for residency takes applications from communities and artists, and they land in the same booking inbox as everything else.
Verification & safetyAttached to actions, not to people.
What does verification actually ask for, and when?
Verification here is attached to actions, not to people. Creating an account asks for consent and a name, and an account can browse, message and hold a ticket indefinitely without being asked for anything more.
- Nothing at all: browsing, reading a public community's page, messaging, getting a ticket, following an artist.
- A face scan: joining a community, starting one, changing your profile photo.
- Face scan and a profile photo: RSVP-ing to a community event, posting in a community, commenting, reacting.
Creating a ticketed event, publishing an artist profile, requesting a venue booking and applying for a residency sit behind the same face scan wherever that door is switched on. There is more detail on How It Works.
How does the face scan work?
The first time you reach a door that needs it, you take a live selfie, which is checked for liveness so a photo or a screen does not pass. Your profile photo is then compared against that selfie and has to be the same face.
This keeps the people who organise, host and post tied to a real, live face. Your biometric data is encrypted and is not shared.
Can I verify my identity with a government ID?
Subscribers can, as an optional extra step. It is handled automatically by our identity-verification partner rather than by hand, usually within a couple of hours, and takes your verification from 90 percent to 100 percent.
Worth saying plainly: nothing in the app currently requires that last 10 percent. It unlocks no feature and gates nothing. IDs are stored encrypted.
What if I run into someone behaving badly?
Use the in-app report on the post, comment or profile. We review reports within 24 hours. You can block someone instantly, and manage everyone you have blocked from Settings. Serious violations end in suspension or a permanent ban.
You are told when a report you filed has been reviewed, so it does not disappear into nothing.
How do you keep fake profiles out?
Where it counts, by tying the account to a live face: the liveness selfie is checked for a real, present person, and the profile photo has to match it. Phone numbers are verified at sign-in, images and text are screened automatically, and reports from the people in a community are reviewed by our moderation team.
We would rather be straight about the limit than oversell it: an account that only browses, messages or holds a ticket is never asked for any of this.
Account & privacyYour data, and getting it back or gone.
How is my data protected?
We are GDPR and PDPA compliant, with encrypted messaging, secure transfers and encrypted cloud storage. Your data is not sold to third parties.
The app does serve ads, and our Privacy Policy names the advertising partner, the identifier involved and how to opt out of it on each platform.
Who can see my profile?
Settings, then Privacy, then Profile Visibility, with three choices:
- Public — everyone can see your profile.
- Connections — only your connections can.
- Private — only you can.
Can I download my data?
Yes. Settings, then Privacy, then Download My Data. We prepare a copy of your personal data and notify you when it is ready; the download link then stays valid for seven days. This is your right under GDPR Article 20.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. You re-authenticate first, and deletion runs immediately and cannot be undone.
If a record cannot be removed automatically, the app tells you so rather than claiming otherwise, and our team is notified to finish it. Our Privacy Policy sets out what is kept and for how long.
